PitchBeyond – Your Story. Unleashed
Learning to pitch is about more than slides or elevator rides. Learning to pitch your business is about telling your story. The PitchBeyond is a four-part series of interactive workshops. Each workshop will explore different skills to improving your ability to tell the story of your company.
Pitch #2 – The Structured
At PitchBeyond #2 we will focus on learning and practicing the “PRES Model” The PRES model (Point. Reason, Explanation. Summary) will be introduced and all participants will be provided fun exercises to structure their company story in the PRES model.
The different audiences we will practice with include:
- Investor: What is the upside market potential and my exit strategy?
- Banker: What is the business model that allows you to pay me back?
- Customer: This benefits me how?
- Peer Entrepreneur: Now, how could I make this beneficial to me?
- Prospective Employee: How will I be adding value?
- Potential Vendor: How is this worth my time?
- Adult Family Member: How are you paying the bills?
- Kid: Say, what?
Think of this first event as “Speed Dating” – but with your business pitch. Oh, and wine and snacks, a very comfortable environment with super fun people.
Before the Event
Each participant will receive short reading material before the event. We will explain exactly what will happen and provide you links to material written by and sourced by our event facilitators. The material for this event will be practical guides for tailoring your pitch to different audiences.
During the Event
During the event, each participant will pair up with a pitch partner. Each participant will both pitch and listen. When you are pitching you will tell the value of your company. When you are listening, you will be thinking about the pitch through the ears of a specific audience type. Then each of us will provide feedback. Feedback in the form of answers to three short questions is shared immediately. Then each of us moves on to a new pitch partner!
After the Event
When we are all exhausted, have checked-in about what we learned, and collected all of our feedback, we will network and share. The conversations will continue on the GLO member platform. And of course, we will all prepare for PitchBeyond #2 in May!
